Sarah Hoidahl, a waitress at Ruby Tuesdays, was working the lunch shift when two women in National Guard fatigues sat at her table. Sarah offered to buy them lunch for their service. The kind-hearted single mother barely makes enough money to afford the gas required to drive to and from work, but she offered what little she had to honor those that protect her freedom.
After her story went viral, Sarah was brought in for an interview on Ellen. Sarah was left speechless and in tears at Ellen’s response to her selfless act. Ellen repaid the $27.75 lunch bill before giving Sarah a new 55″ TV and a check for $10,000.
While hugging the tearful mother, Ellen reminded her “You’re a good person.”
