Little Alidy Haslam lost her father last November and she’s been wearing a costume every day since his death. Jenna Haslam says her 3-year-old daughter has been having a “hard time” and desperately wanted someone to match her outfits. One day Haslam came home and found Alidy grinning from ear to ear while sitting in the bathtub with her 15-year-old babysitter Keegan Carnahan. Both girls were dressed like mermaids and Alidy couldn’t be happier.
Carnahan was determined to bring a smile to little Alidy’s face, so she brought a surprise for bath time. She told Inside Edition, “Ever since I dyed my hair pink Alidy has been saying that I was a mermaid and that I looked like a mermaid. Surely enough, she had decided to wear her little mermaid outfit when I was watching her.” Carnahan brought her very own “big girl” mermaid tail and little Alidy was smitten.
Carnahan had purchased the shiny blue costume three years earlier when she was “going through a phase.” Now Alidy is completely convinced her babysitter is actually a mermaid. Haslam couldn’t be more delighted with her daughter’s happiness. “She finally found someone to connect with again,” Haslam told Buzzfeed.
