Roger Ailes, who helped transform the way the world gets its news and built Fox News into one of the biggest cable channels, has died this morning at the age of 77.
The news was broken by Fox News Channel just this morning.
Ailes began work at Fox News building the company from next to nothing starting in 1996.
He worked as an aide to President Richard Nixon in 1970 and even then was thinking about the future of news television. During his time working for the Nixon administration, he wrote a 300-page memo titled, “A Plan for Putting the GOP on TV News.”
