Three women made Olympic history when they swept all the medals from the podium for the 100 meter hurdles. Teammates Brianna Rollins, Nia Ali, and Kristi Castlin took the gold, silver, and bronze medals respectively with times of 12.48, 12.59, and 12.61 seconds. The athletes were thrilled to stand together, each proudly holding the American flag above their heads.
This is the first time all three medals have been taken by a single team in the 100 meter hurdle. Rollins told ESPN “I tried to feed off all the positive energy from Team USA. We were able to come out here and fulfill our dreams. It was an amazing opportunity. I was trying to enjoy each and every moment. I’m just happy to share the moment with Kristi and Nia.”
Their unprecedented success is just yet another milestone in an Olympic season completely dominated by the women of the United States.
